The 2010 S.L.U.M. Lab newspaper contains articles by American and Brazilian architects, urbanists, economists, and professors, relative to the state of architecture and politics in São Paulo, Brazil, followed by documentation of research projects by Columbia University students in 12 favela (slum) sites in São Paulo. The student projects focus on re-thinking slum upgrading designs by combining established techniques of the informal community with progressive ideas of architecture and urbanism. I was lead designer and co-editor of the publication and contributed an article. Portuguese translation by Melissa Ramos and assistant editing by Marja Byekirova.
